Braid Walk Publication Launch

Talk

Location: Mouth of Figgate Burn, Portobello Beach

Date/Time: Fri 12 September: 4pm-5pm

Join us for the launch of the Braid Walk publication, a collection of writings and visual images inspired by walking the Figgate-Braid-Bonaly watercourse, with readings by Helen Boden (poetry), James Spence (haiku) and others.

The Braid Walk was a project in 2023-24 conceived by Jonathan Baxter inviting participants to walk the Braid Burn watercourse, from mouth to source, created as part of Jonathan’s Craigmillar and Communities Walking Residency.

Walking from mouth to source along three adjoining burns: Figgate, Braid and Bonaly, the original walks took their inspiration from the way of water – its flow and healing powers – and the poetry to be found in the name Braid Burn.

The publication launch takes place at the mouth of the Figgate Burn (Portobello Beach, in front of Tumbles/Westbank St), returning to once again where the project began from. The publication, published by Art Walk Press will be launched at a special festival price of £12.00 (RRP £15.00).

Copies are now available at the Art Walk Hub during the festival (13-14 September) or available from this website via our publications page.
