Jude Nixon

Art House 12
Address: 21 Bath Street
Open: 6/7 and 13/14 September, 10am-6pm
Also open by appointment (8th – 12th September)

Jude’s work has an ecological focus and is concerned with natural forms and the forces of nature which has made them. Her approach involves extensive field work research (walking, drawing, collecting material) alongside a dedicated studio practice.

Jude is a painter and maker who draws her inspiration from the natural world.  In her work she explores exposed northern landscapes and shorelines. Her work is site-responsive and typically involves fieldwork research (walking, drawing, collecting material) alongside a studio practice. By playing with scale, medium, technique and colour she seeks to blur the boundaries between the ‘representational’ and the abstract. Her work reflects an understanding of place that extends beyond the immediate aesthetic to explore the forces of nature and the history which has shaped and marked them.

Jude trained at Edinburgh College of Art and Leith School of Art.  In 2021 she was elected as a professional member of Visual Arts Scotland.
