Julia Macaulay

Art House 4
Address: 16 Rosefield Place
Open: 6/7 and 13/14 September, 10am-6pm
Also open by appointment (8th – 12th September)

Julia explores various subjects using colour, shape and texture all kindled by a quest for new challenges. She uses a variety of media – acrylic and oils, pen, pastels and collage.

Julia’s theme this year commemorates a Japanese friend sorely missed. Her work is also informed by a visit to the kimono exhibition at the V&A in Dundee with Michiko’s grandmother’s kimono being the source for the deep reds and texture used in some of the work she will be exhibiting in her Arthouse. In the body of work named “Upon Reflection” she  explores reflections in water and mirrors while also being mindful of meditation on the past and present.

She has exhibited at the Velvet Easel and in Cockenzie House. She regularly sells privately and via Instagram. She has recently been executing miniature pen and ink drawings.
