Flowering Porty

Portobello & Joppa

2025 Ecology Planting

32 growing spaces participated in our first ever front gardens festival as part of Art Walk Porty celebrating wildlife and pollination across our local neighbourhood of Portobello & Joppa

Across 32 private front gardens, window boxes and community growing spaces, Flowering Porty, brought colour and wildlife to our local streets and communities.

Winners now announced, with 312 votes received.

First: Garden 14, 36 Marlborough Street

Second: Garden 15, 13 Marlborough Street

Third: Garden 25, 8A Dalkeith Street

Gardeners were invited to create pollinator-rich growing schemes inspired by ideas of seaside retro, in keeping with our 2025 ShowGround themed Art Walk Porty festival. The project aimed to increase biodiversity and connect neighbours together whilst celebrating nature, wildlife and colour.

All those participating were included in the Art Walk Porty Festival Map and had a ‘Flowering Porty’ sign located in their growing space, with all spaces being visible from the street.

Three small prizes were awarded for the Best Seaside Retro Garden based on a public vote.
