Art Walk Weekends ‘Shift and Flow’

Patrick paints the natural world with an expressive, layered style, using colour and texture to bring animals and landscapes to life. His work blends structure with emotion, creating scenes with feeling.

An artist/jeweller who predominantly works with vitreous enamel on silver. She also works with other materials such as mosaic to create bold statement pieces.

A painter living and working in Scotland. Her interests lie in the pattern, colour, shape and texture found in the serendipity of everyday scenarios. It’s a two-way relationship between artist and work.

Elisabeth is an emerging photographer. She will be showing images in colour and sepia from two of her recent areas of interest – urban landscapes and abstracts.

Sculptural installation led by generative material exploration, inspired by ever-fluctuating internal and external landscapes, water movement, coastal horizons and health data.

The swirling motion of fluid dynamics forms the basis of this series of paintings by Felicity Inkpen. Trained as a scientist, Felicity creates dynamic, vibrant paintings that capture movement and chaos.

“The Print Shack” will be open to show new work from Claire. There will be relief prints, screen prints, drawings and paintings. The theme will be birds and fish of South America from recent travels.

Teresa's work includes a series of oil and watercolour paintings and sketches of the sky and environment from overlooking the Irish Sea and surrounding Galloway.

Jane will show a series of small, mixed media pods, with the concept of de-cluttering, ‘plein air’ sketches in watercolour and pencil and ink sketches of domestic utensils.

Bringing some colour, texture and pattern with her this year, Solen is creating mixed media pieces around the abstraction of flowers in vases. Collage, oils and acrylics, cyanotype and photography.

Becky makes drawings that function as stage sets and photographs her daughter inside them.

Agnes is a sculptor who draws in steel, creating pieces that seem sketched in air.

'TOGETHER' is a 25min slow-dissolve video installation by David Williams with audio by Lee Arthur Patterson. Selected images from the piece are available for purchase as cards.

Joanna works in watercolour, acrylic paint, and ink, creating work inspired by the coastline. She loves bright colour and experiments to capture the feeling of calm that comes from looking out to sea.

Eleri is a pen and watercolour artist deeply inspired by nature and historical architecture. Her detailed linework and colour washes celebrate both heritage and the natural world.

Fluid, expressive abstract painting meets laser cut geometric precision, as metaphors and unconscious symbols come to life in Lewis Deeney's dream like paintings.

Over the course of each weekend Damian Callan will create a Giant Charcoal Drawing inspired by and featuring the people who pass by on the Promenade and on Portobello beach. Visit Portobello Library after each weekend to see the giant drawings on display.

DUE TO HIGH WINDS We have had to take down this bannerwork but it will be reinstalled later in the week. Open again from 12th September. The outdoor bannerwork showcases work by 32 local photographers created in response to this year’s title of Shift & Flow, embracing a number of different responses.

Em will be exhibiting a range of landscape oil and watercolour paintings inspired by the wild northern landscapes of Scotland.

Chris is a professional cartoonist who appears in publications such as Big Issue and Private Eye. His cartoons reflect on the absurdities of everyday life and the ever-changing political landscape.

James Donald is a Scottish weaver and textile artist whose work blends traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. He creates textiles using locally sourced lambswool, Shetland wool, and other natural fibres.

A series of abstract works on paper employing a variety of techniques with oil paint, pen, pencil and collage, inspired by the flow of the human body amongst the environment that permeates it.

The work shown is a collection of oil paintings and drawings, mostly depicting quiet moments of interior scenes, capturing the atmosphere of the everyday.

Hanna Lehtinen is a multimedia visual artist, working across sculpture, drawing and printmaking to explore the subtleties of inter-species relationships, within and beyond the ocean.

Felix is a visual artist with a practice that investigates the relationships between language, imagery and the traditions and ideas surrounding memory and memorial.

Anna grows eight types of willow in the patch. Some of them are stout, making them ideal for a basket’s skeleton. Anna aims to contrast the dappled hues of the different willow barks within her work. Working basketmaker’s studio.

James’s unique wooden craft items are functional and appealing. Model ferries, door knockers, benches, homeware, jersey stretchers and graphics are displayed. New designs created every year.

Peter combines 70 years of design, art and craft skills and experience with his sense of natural beauty to create original, modern, jewellery using silver, semi-precious stones and bright enamel.

Alasdair Maclauchlan is an artist based in Prestonpans whose work centres on landscape and the everyday environment around Edinburgh, East Lothian and Argyll.

The work has two distinctive styles. Assemblages made from a variety of materials and paintings. The assemblages relate to elements of a constructed world while the paintings are of the natural world.

Rosie's work this year will include the (mainly) smaller scale oils she has been focussing on recently, while also casting a retrospective glance back to the past.

Jenny Martin is a painter and printmaker and is showing work based on travels in Spain and Morocco. Colour and pattern are central to her work, and visitors can see inside her busy, chaotic studio.

Work on show will include recent etchings and monoprints of Arctic environments, together with mixed media works developed from time spent in forests, both locally and further afield.

Fiona is a printmaker using a variety of printmaking techniques exploring themes of birds and people printing onto pianola roll and other papers. She makes printmaking starter packs which she sells.

A series of toned cyanotype prints capturing tidal movement at Musselburgh, developed in seawater and toned with locally foraged plants, assembled into a looping animation shown alongside the prints.

Helen’s practice draws on small and overlooked elements of space and ‘flickers’ found in the everyday. This new work explores the boundary where sea meets land as transient images appear and dissolve.

Jewellery, paintings, and sculpture inspired by the Scottish coast and landscape. Daniel focusses on the raw textures and emotive qualities of the landscape to capture the spirit of the sea and land.
