Artworks inspired by Portobello and Edinburgh locations while showcasing local wildlife. There is a special focus on the local fox, brought to life through ink, watercolour and mixed media.
Edinburgh Inky Fox is the creation of Marianne Hunter, a Portobello based artist known for her ink drawings and prints that capture the city’s architecture and wildlife including the local fox. She creates her illustrations from on site visits, photographing, and sketching as-well as learning about the history of her subjects. She subsequently develops and refines her sketches until they become the finished ink drawing.
While sketching and preparing for printmaking at the Edinburgh Printmakers, Marianne has developed a distinctive style and her Inky Fox works are sold in various shops and markets including The West End Fair in Edinburgh.
Marianne will embrace this year’s ‘Showground’ theme by looking back at the history of Portobello, having been inspired by the old fairgrounds, the pier and the variety acts that once entertained on the prom.
