of his recent work, plus a preview of DITCHBURN’s new spoken word and soundscape tracks. Free, no need to book.

Robin Baillie presents Tricoteuse: 10 years of experiments with wool, textile, woodcut and print. These battles with iconography and style engage the historical genres of portrait, landscape and collage.

Robin’s work as an artist draws on his creative interpretation of historical artworks and historical research. His explorations in various media recreate the historical formats and styles which encapsulate an era, its attitudes, and ideologies.Having been an oil painter, Robin’s practice has expanded to employ everyday materials – wool, wood, textiles and print – in a painterly manner. He thus adopts the ‘raw’ approach of those who remain free of academic training.

Robin graduated in Politics and Modern History at the University of Edinburgh in 1981. He completed a postgraduate degree at the Slade School of Art, in 1992. Robin teaches art history at ECA (p-t) and was awarded his Doctorate in the History of Art by the University of Lincoln in 2024. Robin has been part of the spoken word and contemporary music duo DITCHBURN, since 2003.
